Key Tips to Improve Website Design and Make it More User-Friendly

How you need to design your website depends on how your audience feels when interacting with your site, how easy your site is to navigate and find what they are looking for, whether it is information or a product. To simplify it in terms we can work with; for making a website more user-friendly, the design needs to be simple, there should be consistency throughout the site, the information should be concise and easy to read, page loading should be faster and customized to mobile devices.

Optimizing your website to be more user-friendly can effectively push more traffic towards you, so let’s learn some great tips and tricks to do just that from industry professionals.

Build A Simple Navigation Scheme

“The most important feature of a user-friendly website is navigation. Users must be able to locate the details they need in a matter of seconds. They should be able to easily navigate through the website’s pages. Redesign the navigational system if they have to pause to search for the buttons and connections that will lead them to the desired detail. Look for common navigational errors in the web page template. Ensure that users can quickly locate navigational functions. The menu bars must be accessible at all times. If the navigational menu has any outdated acronyms, delete them. You might believe that abbreviations and acronyms would be recognized easily, but that is not the case.” says Alex Claro, VPN Analyst for Credit Donkey.

Claro recommends eliminating complexities, “If there are several layers in the navigational menu, remove them. Many websites have several levels of sub-menus. That’s a dreadful user interface. Users shouldn’t have to go through a lot of layers to get to the details they need. A search box is essential for the web because it has excellent navigational functionality. Users only need to enter a keyword into the box to get the information they need without having to manually navigate to other pages. There’s no limit to how you can improve the menu and make it stand out. Simply put yourself in the shoes of your guests by using your imagination. Then, create innovative navigational features that are convenient and straightforward to use.”

Make Your Website Mobile-Friendly

“People use mobile devices to explore the internet for details. As a result, you must determine how your company’s website looks and how consumers access it on mobile devices. A user-friendly website today is one that is still mobile-friendly. The concept must be mobile-friendly. Keep in mind that the navigational scheme for handheld devices can vary from that of a desktop website. The buttons must be placed in such a way that they can be conveniently tapped with fingertips on the small screen. Your responsive design layout should also be capable of producing customized images. You will get rid of the latency and scaling problems this way. GIF, PNG-8, and JPEG are the best formats to use. With these steps in place, you can expect to develop a true brand name that aids in your company’s steady growth.”

Bram Jansen, Chief Editor of vpnAlert

Make Good Use Of White Space

“Distribute different items such as text and photographs judiciously to ensure a more user-friendly website. Considering white space is a good way to ensure it. The empty space between the two elements is known as white space. The reader’s eye is relieved by a deliberately left white space between two items. This aids in retaining a guest to your website for a longer period of time. Due to a lack of room, the web page can appear cramped and congested, rendering it less legible. However, since there is enough room, readers will concentrate on the surrounding titles and text.” says Ansh Gupta, the Founder of Empire Crafter.

Gupta advises a balance the white space is key, “According to studies, using a lot of white space surrounding titles and texts increases user interest by 20%. If the page has enough space, there is a sense of openness and freshness. Maintain a healthy balance, as too much white space will lead to a lack of detail. As a result, strike a balance by placing the most important facts first. Allow some space around the text or pictures at the top to draw attention to them.”

Maintain Consistency Across your Site

“When it comes to improving the usability and design of your website, consistency is the most important thing to remember. Maintaining a consistent layout across all pages can help the user become more comfortable with your website. Our site’s layout is consistent, with identical fonts and colors on every page. When offering consistent branding, this continuity will reassure consumers that they haven’t been navigated anywhere.”

Timothy Robinson, CEO of InVPN

Make your Site Responsive

“The number of mobile users has increased in the last decade. 33% of internet users consider their smartphone to be the most critical device for going online. As a consequence, making a mobile-friendly and responsive website is no longer a choice, but rather a requirement in the design of your website.

“If the fact that more people are using mobile devices to access the internet, such as smartphones and tablets, isn’t enough to convince you to have a responsive interface, the fact that Google penalizes websites that aren’t mobile-friendly should. You could be impacting your rankings and potentially losing a lot of traffic if you don’t add responsive features to your web.

“When using a responsive interface, make sure it keeps the same look and feel as the desktop edition, no matter what computer is being used. While the layout of the site will invariably vary on mobile from the desktop version, only minor changes will be required, such as the maximum width of the layout and the size of the images and branding; in addition, if possible, the color scheme and fonts should be standardized. Any significant differences between the desktop and mobile versions would only add to the user’s confusion when visiting the web on various platforms.”

Thilo Huellmann, CTO levity.ai

Make The Data Understandable

“You undoubtedly have a great deal of valuable knowledge to share. However, if readers are unable to absorb it easily, you will lose them. People, in my experience, do not read a web page fully. Instead, they quickly search the pages. As a result, the website should be able to be scanned. Users would find it difficult to read the entire blog or another piece of material if there are large paragraphs. They’ll eventually abandon the website, having only read half of it.” says Dr. Pooneh Ramezani, the CEO and Co-Founder Dr. Brite.

Dr. Ramezani advises breaking down the information on a page to improves readability, “However, presenting the details in small paragraphs of two to three lines will grab the reader’s attention easily. This is why, after a few paragraphs of two or three lines, many web pages today have single lines. Often, to make a  website readable, make surethere is some color contrast. The background color should be distinct from the text color. This strategy will make it easier to read the file. Font selection is also important. San serif fonts are preferred for online reading, while serif fonts are preferred for print design. Easy fonts should be used. However, don’t use too many of them on the same list.”

Ensure That The Loading Process Is As Fast As Possible

“The load time of a website is an important factor in assessing its effectiveness. When people click on the link to your site, it must appear right away. Users will abandon your site if it takes too long to load. When a website takes longer than ten seconds to load, users abandon it because their attention span is rapidly dwindling. Delete any extra elements that are no longer in use to make the site load faster. Your site will slow down if you use too many videos and other multimedia. Many websites have extra elements that make the pages of the site load slowly, which is a barrier to developing a user-friendly site. So, have your experienced graphic designer minimize the number of large images on your web pages and include fewer videos.”

Dusan Stanar, Founder & CEO of VSS Monitoring

Incorporate A Chat Function

“To learn more about your goods or services, your future clients would like to have a live chat with your company’s office. There is no substitute for a one-on-one conversation that informs guests of what you have to offer. They may have a number of inquiries about your services or goods. Many of them are averse to making phone calls. However, using the chat feature on your website, you can engage and invite them to communicate with you.”

Matt Weidle, Business Development Manager Buyer’s Guide

Test and Analyze Your Site To Find What you Need to Improve

“The key to a great user experience is testing, testing, testing! This isn’t something that should be confined to the website design stage. User testing is something that should be ongoing, so you can refine your user experience along the way. That’s because to improve a website’s usability; you need to first understand how your customers are using it. What are their goals, aims and expectations? What journey do you expect them to take through the site, and how does that change dependent on the landing page they start on?

“Google Analytics is a great starting point to help understand your site’s engagement. We like pairing this with heat maps and session recordings too, for a visual representation of how your users are interacting with the site. All this will help arm you with the data you need to improve your user experience. Then, it’s time to test. Going on gut or the personal preferences of the team isn’t good enough – one of the key benefits of digital is that everything is measurable. So make the most of that data at every stage.

“Our favourite tool for A/B testing a webpage is Google Optimize. This handy tool allows you to run “experiments”, serving two different versions of a page and tracking your chosen engagement or conversion metrics. Google runs the test until it has a clear “winner” so then you can deploy your updates with an understanding of how they’ll affect your users’ experience and actions.”

What is Inclusive UX Design and How Do I Apply It to My Website?

Inclusive UX is when UX professionals, software developers, and all others involved in the team complete and market the final product, ensuring their product has a user interface that caters to all categories of the audience. This means including those who usually feel excluded in their daily lives due to any disability, such as sight impairment or color blindness or even discrimination to oppressed minorities by denying access.

Creating your product and interface, you hold the power to decide who has been given a chance to use it with ease and who is ignored and excluded, by proxy, simply because the design is not inclusive. We have asked the experts to weigh in and tell us more about Inclusive UX Design and how you can apply it to your websites.

Appeal to a Wider Audience

“The inclusive design (I prefer to call it universal design) is a very important part of our optimization within the company, as it is for most of the companies. Inclusive UX design means that your UX will be understood and aimed at a wide range of customers/clients and will not need a further explanation. Think about it as a joke. If it needs a further explanation, then it’s not a good joke. That’s the same with the UX of the current page. It is necessary to have relevant call to action buttons and headlines, appealing and self-explanatory visuals, short, but on point text fields. Make it user-friendly and while creating it, imagine you are the customer visiting the webpage. Getting inspired by your competitors is a great way to do research, analyze it and create something better. At AutoPi, we are currently in the process of converting our homepage to be more optimized for our B2B clients. It includes relevant call to action buttons, attractive headlines, and user-friendly/self-explanatory sections on the homepage. Our main idea is to basically convert our homepage into a landing page.”

Michal Hajtas, a marketer and web developer at AutoPi, IoT international company

“When you design a website, most of you will wonder how to make the webpage easily accessible to the users. The inclusive design concept assists you to work on the perspectives of all the diverse field users and provide a webpage that interacts well with them. It is the process of user analysis and their views on your website. If you want to include the inclusive design concept in your webpage, the first step is to form a non-technical team. The team members must be from a diverse field and different socioeconomic state. Using the opinions from this organized team will help you to embed the inclusive design flawlessly. It is a straightforward process. The analyzed data from this team will be forwarded to the designers to structure the webpage satisfying the team’s criteria. A successful inclusive design is possible when you closely observe the suggestions from your webpage users of diverse fields and backgrounds. Your website design must convince all users’ groups without compromises. You can find people belonging to different streams, age groups, education levels, economic state and unique mental behaviour. In the inclusive design, you must consider all these data when you start the website design for your needs. All these factors uphold the design format and reach the web design for all users precisely. A precise inclusive design will ultimately end up with a successful web page design. Focus on different people who access your website to get the desired results in the long run. The inclusive design concept plays a vital role and increases the network traffic in your webpage effortlessly.”

Harriet Chan, Co-founder & Marketing Director CocoFinder

Develop an Inclusive and Inquisitive Cultural Mindset

“The inclusive UX design doesn’t necessarily mean you are designing one thing for the individuals and people. So, rather than looking at one solution to a design issue, inclusive design requires UX designers to take a glance at all the relevant ways in which someone can partake in the elementary function of a digital product or a website. Moreover, it makes streamlined places for everyone, irrespective of their abilities, ages, and circumstances. In order to apply Inclusive UX design to my website, I need to account for the impact of not building accessible and inclusive solutions. After that, to incorporate the site, creating an inclusive and inquisitive cultural mindset is needed. Finally, I need to build a profound understanding of everyone’s experiences and propagate the solution to everyone.”

Eden Cheng, Founder WeInvoice

Designing for Various Outcomes

“Every interaction a customer has with a product or service is referred to as user experience. .In its most basic form, inclusive design entails creating common goods and services that are as widely available and functional as possible. It’s important to remember that this idea isn’t about making the website look the same and function on every device; rather, it’s about offering a variety of user experiences with equally useful outcomes. This can be accomplished by including actual users early in the study and testing process. Since there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach in inclusive web design, make sure you give people choices by designing for various outcomes. It would help if you consider who, how, why, when, where, and when people will use your website. When it comes to doing their jobs, designers use a variety of techniques. They’ll use survey and polling tools, as well as video chat apps, to interview users and collect as much information as possible during the research and inspiration period. Wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing software is also available, with Balsamiq and UsabilityHub being among the most common in the industry.”

Alina Clark, Co-Founder & Marketing Director CocoDoc; a software development company

Offer Diverse Opportunities in UX with the help of a Diverse Team

“Essentially, an inclusive UX design focuses on making the design available to the broadest range of people. Inclusive UX is a term encompassing more than just ‘inclusivity,’ as it doesn’t mean having a design suitable for everyone. Rather than that, it means offering diverse opportunities to enjoy the digital product. Focusing on more than just people’s abilities, inclusive UX aspires to cater to different backgrounds and outlooks since they affect how each of us interacts with the world and perceives information. The primary purpose of inclusive UX is the universal design used by as many individuals as possible. Thus, inclusive design is not just a feature but a mindset that the whole company needs to adapt to make its product accessible to most people. To adopt the mindset of inclusive UX, a company needs to have a team with different backgrounds and perspectives who can each bring their unique contribution to the process. Even more critical than a diverse team is a diverse user testing sample. It’s crucial here to look for a group representing the most varied range of potential end-users. A website needs to be full of different types of content like texts, infographics, videos, audios, and interactive content. The product having all these types of content is an excellent solution for all people. It will not only serve people with disabilities but, at the same time, create a better user experience for every single website visitor.”

How To Transfer A Domain From GoDaddy To A Squarespace Website

Most marketers choose Squarespace as their website builder and host because it provides simple and intuitive tools to create a beautiful and professional website. If you bought a domain from GoDaddy, you could connect it to Squarespace by pointing to its name records. Most website owners do this at first, especially if they’ve had the domain with GoDaddy for quite a long time.

Transferring a domain from GoDaddy to Squarespace is not mandatory; you can connect it instead. However, some website owners find it easier to transfer the domain entirely. It helps them manage everything in one space, thus saving time and energy.

Things To Know Before Getting Started

  • You can only manage a transferred domain in Squarespace. You can’t manage it from GoDaddy anymore
  • The domain must be at least 60 days old before the transfer
  • The domain name must not have “Squarespace” or “SQSP” anywhere in it
  • A one-year renewal fee will be charged, which is a transfer fee but extends your domain expiry by one year
  • Squarespace must support the TLD. Check this for supported TLDs
  • Most transfer/renewal fees start at $20
  • You can’t transfer subdomains, only Top Level Domains (TLDs) can be transferred

Steps For Transferring Domain From GoDaddy To Squarespace

Before you begin the transfer, prepare your accounts with GoDaddy and Squarespace. Login to both, and you can start the transfer when they’re ready.

Step 1: Verify Details

Check that the information in your domain is correct.

  • Go to GoDaddy > My Products > Manage
  • Verify that all contact details (Name, Email Address, etc.) are correct. If you find any outdated or incorrect information, change it first
    • Note: If you’re making changes, only change the Administrative Contact Information. Don’t change the registrant information because this can lock the domain, which will delay the transfer.
  • Disable the privacy protection by choosing your domain and scrolling towards the bottom. Turn off the privacy option once you see it

Step 2: Unlock The GoDaddy Domain

Domains are locked for security purposes. If you want to transfer it, you need to unlock it first.

  • Option 1: Go to your domain and scroll down. Look for “Domain Lock is ON” somewhere at the bottom and turn it “OFF.” Then, change the status to “Unlock”
  • Option 2: Go to the GoDaddy Domain Control Panel and look for Additional Settings. Look for “Domain Lock ON” and click edit to change the status

Step 3: Get The GoDaddy Authorization Code

The authorization code is a unique code needed for the transfer.

  • On the domain page, scroll down and look for “Transfer domain away from GoDaddy”
  • Click on “Continue with Transfer”
  • Copy the authorization code and keep it safe
  • The authorization code will appear on the domain and be emailed to you

Step 4: Start The Squarespace Transfer

At this point, you’re done with the GoDaddy part and can move on to the Squarespace part. Open the tab with your Squarespace credentials.

  • From the Home Page, go to Settings. Look for Domain > Use a Domain I Own
  • Enter the name of the domain you want to transfer. Click Verify
  • Click “Transfer to Squarespace”
  • Provide the authorization code

Step 5: Change The DNS Settings

Verify the DNS records and make sure they’re “ON.”

  1. Point to Squarespace: This should be ON. If not yet there, change the CNAME and A record to point to Squarespace
  2. Keep other DNS records: Other records are for transferring emails. You can remove those records and point them to the new nameservers
  3. Move Nameservers to Squarespace: Move the NS to Squarespace and change the MX records

Go back to GoDaddy DNS Settings and edit the CNAME records. Get the Host value from the “Squarespace DNS Manager” and use it for the first CNAME.

Step 6: Review And Payment

Check the details, and if everything is correct, proceed with the payment. You need to pay a one-year renewal as a transfer fee.

Step 7: Confirm The Transfer

Go back to your GoDaddy domain to confirm the transfer. You can also check your email and confirm it from there. GoDaddy wants to ensure that you are the one making the transfer.

Take note that the transfer takes a couple of hours but can last for days.

Once everything is complete, you will get an email confirmation.

Start Managing Your Domain At Squarespace

Following the steps above, your domain will appear in Squarespace, and you can start building a Squarespace website. Transferring domains from GoDaddy to Squarespace is hassle-free and straightforward. Don’t be intimidated by the jargon. Just follow each step, and you’d be good to go.

How to Cancel A Squarespace Domain Subscription

Squarespace is a popular website builder that offers users everything they need to create a professional website, including domain names and hosting. However, if you decide you no longer need your Squarespace account, you may be wondering how to cancel your Squarespace domain subscription. The process is straightforward, but there are several things you need to consider before canceling.

Before You Cancel A Squarespace Domain

There are many reasons for canceling a domain. You may have made a mistake, like a wrong spelling, or you may be doing a rebranding, and you want a new domain name. Before you cancel, remember that there are repercussions for losing a domain name.

  • If you have Google workspace connected or using an email service connected to your domain, canceling your domain can interrupt this service. Ensure your emails are backed up, and your contacts know the new email address before canceling.
  • Once you cancel your Squarespace domain, you can no longer use it anywhere else. If you plan to use it for another Squarespace site or another website, consider transferring or re-assigning the domain.
  • Canceling your domain will also cause your site to default to Squarespace’s built-in domain (yourname.squarespace.com). If you plan to keep your Squarespace site, set a new primary domain first and assign it.
  • If you transfer a domain to Squarespace and then change your mind, you can still cancel the transfer as long as it’s not yet complete. Once the domain is fully transferred, you can’t cancel it right away. You need to disable auto-renew and wait for the next billing cycle.
  • If you’re canceling a legacy domain and then decide to purchase it later, the price will most likely increase.
  • Canceling domains after the 5-day grace period are not entitled to refunds.

How To Cancel Squarespace Domain

Once you’ve understood the repercussions of canceling a domain and you’re sure that this is the path you’d like to take, then you can follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Squarespace account.
  2. Open the “Domains” panel.
  3. Look for the domain you’d like to cancel.
  4. Click “Cancel Domain.”
  5. If you can’t find the “Cancel Domain, ” either the grace period has expired, or the domain extension is a country TLD (top-level domain), which can’t be canceled. If this happens, disable auto-renew first to cancel the domain.

How To Disable Auto-Renew

When you disable auto-renew, you let the domain expire on its next charge date. Since most domains have a one-year renewal period, depending on when you decide to cancel the domain, you can be waiting for quite some time.

To disable auto-renew, just follow these steps.

  1. Go to the Domains panel.
  2. Look for the Domain you want to cancel.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and deselect auto-renew.
  4. Confirm your new settings.
  5. Disconnect the domain from your site.

After you’ve disabled auto-renew, you should be able to cancel the domain. However, it’s important to disconnect it from your existing site. To disconnect the domain, you should go to the DNS Settings and delete the Squarespace defaults. This will stop the canceled domain from pointing to your site.

Things To Remember When Cancelling Your Domain

Here are several things you need to know when canceling your domain.

Refund

Squarespace only issues a full refund for domains canceled within the 5-day grace period. This excludes domains with country TLDs. If you got a free domain, then decided to cancel within the grace period, you can get a new one. Refunds are processed within 3 to 10 business days.

Waiting Time

After canceling a domain, wait an hour to 72 hours before it stops pointing to your site. The same timeframe applies if you stopped the DNS records from pointing to your site.

Managing Customer Expectations

If you’ve had your site for some time and decided to cancel it, your visitors may be confused if they don’t know about the change. You can lose customers and disappoint existing ones. Give them enough time to learn about your new domain.

You can either tell them about it through your communication channels or enable redirects to your new domain. To do that, set up a new primary domain and disable auto-renew on the old domain.

Parking Page

If you have a parking page and you’re canceling the domain for that, then you can lose the parking page. However, the parking page will remain intact if you have other active subscriptions.

Quickly cancel your Squarespace domain by following the procedures in this blog. Before you cancel, ensure you understand the implications and are prepared for it.

How Do I Change My GoDaddy Username?

In this digital age, where creating an account is as simple as a few button clicks, usernames are nothing out of the ordinary. In fact, it’s been estimated that each of us has 27 separate online logins.

Usernames have been a staple piece of information whenever we wish to log in to any of our online accounts. But why do we still even need usernames? Continue scrolling down to discover why!

What Is A GoDaddy Username?

GoDaddy.com, famously known as GoDaddy, is an American company based in Arizona that specializes in registering internet domains and hosting websites on its servers. With a customer base of over 21 million+ people and over 84 million domain names, GoDaddy is one of the world’s largest domain registrars and web hosting companies. Also, that’s a lot of usernames!

The Importance Of Your GoDaddy Username

It is crucial for them to know who is who by using usernames. Your GoDaddy username is your identification, an ID that is unique to you and yours only. Your digital identity distinguishes you from other GoDaddy users, meaning that two people could not have the same GoDaddy username.

If you chose to create your account using a Google account, then your Google mail would also be your username. This username allows you to log in and receive e-mails about your account summary and updates, product information, news, and promotional offers. You do have the option to change your GoDaddy account username, which you’ll find out later.

Keeping Your GoDaddy Username Secure

It is also in your best interest to always keep your GoDaddy username secure. We’ve all experienced using our full names or birthdays as part of our usernames, but that is a big NO. It is safer not to include any personal information in your username.

Also, avoid having a username that provides a clue to your password. Lastly, ensure your username is simple to remember but hard to guess — we wouldn’t want anyone other than you signing in. If you’re struggling to find the perfect username, you may try a username generator. Yes, these steps can complicate your GoDaddy username, but at least it’s more secure!

Okay, so now we know what a GoDaddy username is and how important it is. But what do we do if we happen to forget our precious username?

How To Change Your GoDaddy Username

We’ve all had that experience of not being able to remember the username we used for our GoDaddy account. Worry not! We’ve got you covered on how to find your GoDaddy username if you still know your password.

What To Do When You Forget Your GoDaddy Account Username

  1. Go to the Retrieve Username page.
  2. Enter the Email address linked to your account, then click Continue.
  3. An email containing a 6-digit code will be sent to your email address. Enter the 6-digit code immediately, then select Verify Code.
  4. If you have a GoDaddy Domain name associated with your account (i.e., greatexample.com), you may enter that instead. Then, select Filter.
  5. A one-time-use PIN will be sent to your email address. Under 6-digit Code, enter the PIN.
  6. If the code is correct, you’ll now be able to view your GoDaddy username.

If you lost access to the email address associated with your account, visit this guide by GoDaddy.

Change My GoDaddy Account Username

Now that we’ve retrieved your username let us go ahead and change it to something we can easily remember. To do that;

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Under the My Account Tab, choose the GoDaddy Login & PIN page.
  3. In the Login Info section, select Edit.
  4. Enter your New username once prompted. Make sure it meets the conditions, such as:
    1. Your new username must be between 5 – 50 characters.
    2. It should contain at least 1 letter.
    3. There should be no spaces between the characters.
    4. Your username should be unique.
  5. Select Save to confirm your changes.

How To Sign In Using A New Username

Let us see if your new GoDaddy username works. You can head over to the sign-in page directly to access your GoDaddy account or follow these steps.

  1. Open the GoDaddy homepage.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner, select Sign In.
  3. Under the Registered Users group, click Sign In.
  4. Enter your Username or the Customer number shown on your Login info. You can also sign in using your Google account associated with your GoDaddy account.
  5. Enter your Password, then select Sign In.
  6. You can also choose to sign in without a password. Enter your email address, then click Email me a secure code.
  7. A unique 6-digit code will be sent to your email. Enter the code, then select Continue.

Congratulations! You have successfully signed in to your GoDaddy account. If you want to learn more about General Account Management, check out this article by PageKits today!

Moving Your Website From WordPress To Squarespace

WordPress is an excellent platform for creatives, but it may not be the best option since it lacks robust functionality. With such a platform, beautiful pictures can be displayed without fiddle with plugins or codes– this ‘s where Squarespace comes in.

Squarespace helps you create stunning image-rich websites in an easy drag-and-drop interface. If you’re wondering how to transfer a domain from WordPress to Squarespace, worry no more. This post will cover all the steps you need to switch from WordPress to Squarespace.

Getting Ready

Transferring a website is a serious decision. Before starting any of the processes below, you must be sure you want to transfer your website. The process takes a few weeks since it involves preparing your WordPress site and setting up your Squarespace site.

Expect to lose some web traffic during the migration and your SEO rankings to dive slightly. However, as long as you prepare everything correctly, your site will be up and running.

Stage 1: Preparing Your WordPress Site For Migration

To transfer your WordPress site to Squarespace, follow these steps:

1. Map your existing URLs.

List down on a spreadsheet or use a tool like Google Search Console to prepare a site map of your existing site. You need to capture the titles, descriptions, and slugs of every page on your site.

This will help you create the correct redirects to ensure visitors don’t get lost when navigating to your site, especially from an external source.

2. Clean your site pages.

Check your site’s links and pages and remove any duplicates. Edit slugs that aren’t user-friendly and check if pages are still relevant. Don’t hesitate to remove or repurpose content.

3. Review your site map and site structure.

Transferring to Squarespace is a chance to update your site structure to represent your business better. Review the site layout and determine if this is still relevant or needs updating.

Stage 2: Setting Up Squarespace

Once you’ve cleaned and prepared WordPress, it’s time to set up Squarespace. The website builder offers a 14-day trial to check its features.

4. Create a Squarespace account.

Signing up for Squarespace is easily accomplished within minutes. You can select various templates suited for your business as soon as you’re in. If these templates are too generic, you can always purchase premium ones.

5. Start migrating your content.

Customize your Squarespace site with your branding elements and import your WordPress content automatically using migration tools.

Note that some items might break, especially when dealing with blog posts, but these should be easy to fix later. You can’t import galleries, so you’d have to download and then re-upload them manually.

6. Build your page and style your site.

Now that you have your old content on your new site, you can start building the rest of the missing pages and style your site. You can use the site layout you created as a guide.

Ensure to build all the pages you need, like the About, Services, Portfolio, and Contact Us page. Start uploading your galleries and checking that everything is working with your blogs.

Stage 3: Getting Ready for Launch

7. Review site links and sets up redirects.

After building your site, you should review the links you’ve mapped from Step 1. Check that they are using the duplicate URLs as before, and if they have changed, then set up 301 redirects. Squarespace treats blog links differently than WordPress, so ensure to create redirects for all your blog posts.

Review the titles and descriptions of the pages and ensure they match what you had before.

8. Purchase a paid Squarespace plan.

Choose a plan from Squarespace’s wide selections and purchase it. Remember that site hosting will now be the courtesy of Squarespace, and you must pay for it before launching the website.

9. Transfer Domain to Squarespace.

Once your new site is ready, you can transfer your domain from your current registrar, like GoDaddy, to Squarespace. This process takes 1 to 15 days, but the new site has launched as soon as the transfer is complete.

At this point, you can now stop paying for any WordPress-related expenses like hosting and domain registration. Be careful to check that everything has been transferred and there are no 404 redirects on your site. A 404 redirect means that there’s a broken page you need to take care of.

Make the Switch From WordPress To Squarespace

If you’re thinking about transferring a domain from WordPress to Squarespace, you can see above that it’s a simple process. In reality, WordPress is just a CMS platform that relies on hosting sites and registrars, while Squarespace is an all-in-one solution that acts as the registrar, hosting, and CMS.

How To Reset Or Recover Your Webmail Password On GoDaddy

It can be stressful and frustrating if you are accidentally locked out of your GoDaddy account, especially if you forgot your password. Good thing GoDaddy provides a way to reset or recover the webmail password.

GoDaddy is a leading domain name registration and management provider. They also offer a wide range of services, including website hosting, cloud storage, affiliate services, web design, and email services.

Most users have one primary password for their entire GoDaddy account, plus several different passwords for other services, like the webmail service. If you work within a team, an administrator may have the primary account password while providing team members with separate webmail passwords.

If you can’t suddenly access your GoDaddy because of a forgotten password, don’t fret. You can ask the system admin to reset your password or check out the steps below to regain access.

Recovering A Locked GoDaddy Account

Technically, GoDaddy doesn’t allow you to recover a lost password. If you suddenly forget your GoDaddy account password or the associated webmail password, you can use security hints to try to remember it. But if you get locked out due to multiple trial attempts, what you can do is reset the password.

To reset your GoDaddy password, follow these steps.

1. Go to the GoDaddy login page and click “Retrieve My Password”

You will be redirected to the Account Assistance page. If you know your GoDaddy account password, you can access the page and proceed to change the webmail password.

2. Click “See My Password Hint”

Before resetting your password, GoDaddy will give you a chance to remember it. Enter your username or customer number with the street address associated with the account. Complete the captcha code and click “Submit.” GoDaddy will show the password hint you selected during signup. You’re good to go if you can remember your password with the hint. Otherwise, you should proceed to reset it.

3. Select “Reset My Password”

At this point, you’ve completely forgotten about the password and have opted to change it simply. Enter your username or customer number and the email address you used to sign up for the account. Complete the captcha and click “Submit.” GoDaddy will send an authorization code together with instructions to your email address.

Follow the instructions to create a new password. There’s a time limit of two hours to complete the instructions. Otherwise, the code provided will expire, and you will need to repeat the entire process. Make sure you have enough time to follow through with the instructions before attempting to reset your password.

Resetting A Forgotten GoDaddy Webmail Password

If you know the GoDaddy account password but forgot the webmail password, here’s how you can reset it.

1. Log in to your GoDaddy account and navigate to the My Products page

After accessing your GoDaddy account, look for the webmail login under the My Products page. This page displays all the GoDaddy-related services you’ve purchased with your account.

2. Go to the “Email” tab

Navigate to the “Email” tab to see the list of accounts. Look for the account with the forgotten webmail password and click “Launch” to open the Email Control Center.

3. Click the “+” button beside the account whose webmail password needs to be reset

You will then see a list of email addresses for that account.

4. Select the locked email address

This action will open the Edit Mailbox screen.

5. Enter the new password

Look for the “Change Password” box and enter the new password. Confirm the entry by typing the same password in the “Confirm Password” box. Make sure it’s something easy to remember but also strong. Avoid weak passwords that can be easily compromised.

6. Accept changes by clicking “OK”

At this point, you’ve changed the password. A success confirmation popup will show you that the changes are done. Remember the password either by using a password manager or writing it down.

Protect Your GoDaddy Account With A Strong Password

Passwords are essential layers of security that we use to protect our accounts from cybercriminals. Nobody wants the nightmare of getting locked out of their account only to discover criminals have hacked it. Always observe basic password hygiene and security procedures to keep your accounts secure.

If you’ve locked yourself accidentally, immediately recover the password. Don’t leave your account hanging, or you run the risk of losing access to all of your hard work. If you need further support or suspect your account has been hacked, you can always reach out to GoDaddy’s customer service hotline.

Reasons Why You Should Host Your Website

Now that all businesses and services are available online and competitions are high, business owners must give importance to their website and online presence. This article has collected suggestions from experts on why you should start hosting your website.

The first and most obvious thing is the liberty of doing whatever you want with your website. In web development, you always have to be mindful that some changes can take time, depending on your host. This is not a problem if you are the host. You can be flexible with your changes and even solve problems faster than if you had to wait for your host to upload your new preferences.

From Alvin Dy, Co-Founder of All Home Robotics.

Server Maintenance and Performance

When determining where to host your online services, it’s critical to evaluate whether your hosting company uses high-quality infrastructure and maintains your services regularly to ensure that they remain secure and up-to-date and deal with a hosting provider at the same time. As a result, it makes life easier for them regarding system maintenance. Hosting providers should always perform it during off-peak hours to avoid negatively impacting your business. This may not always be the case when dealing with a foreign hosting provider!

From AndrewPriobrazhenskyi, CEO of DiscountReactor.com.

Better Security

Have you ever visited a website and been greeted with the message, Your connection to this site is not secure? It then advises against entering any personal information, such as credit card numbers or passwords. This page indicates that the website is not secure and that HTTPS is not being used. To activate HTTPS on your website, you’ll need to choose a competent web hosting company and obtain a secure IP address. HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) ensures that all data transmitted over the website is immediately secured, shielding any sensitive or personal data from prying eyes, including hackers.

From BramJansen, Chief Editor of vpnAlert.

When you host your website, you are the chief authority of it. You can tweak the settings whenever you want to, and you are granted complete control over it. You can proceed without seeking anyone’s opinion to modify the features to enable better functioning. When your website has issues, you can solve them independently rather than seeking help from tech support and waiting for hours.

The hosts make numerous restrictions on the customers’ sizes and types of uploaded files. Most often, these are annoying and could delay your activities too. If you host your website, you don’t have to follow such regulations.

You can directly get opinions from potential customers and save them for future reference. It gives you freedom and control over your website and complete transparency to access.

It is relatively easy to host a website. It might sound pretty time-consuming when you hear it, but it is not. The initial settings and the settings in virtual hosting can be made in a few minutes. You can make use of Virtual Private Servers to make it easier.

From Steven Walker, CEO of Spylix.

Faster Loading Times

When you host with a local web service, you may expect faster loading speeds for both you and your clients. The distance that data from a website travel from its server determines its speed. The closer you or your customers are to the server, the faster your website will load. As a result, the location of your web hosting provider is crucial.

Let’s pretend you’re hosting your website with a well-known company with servers in Oregon. Let’s pretend you live and work in southern Florida for the sake of the tale. Every time someone visits your website, those servers will need to be visited. Because those servers are located on the other side of the country, your website will take a little longer to load for you and your local customers. The farther you are from your website, the more networks you’ll have to go through to get there. Your website will take a few milliseconds longer to load, but it will not be slow.

If you haven’t noticed, website speed is crucial. It just takes 3 seconds of being stalled on a loading screen for your visitors to leave! Your visitors will hunt for another website that meets their demands if your website takes forever to load. The difference between a fast-loading website and a slow-loading website may be where you host it. Hosting your website locally has the advantage of allowing you to know exactly where your hosting provider is located. You know where the servers are located, and you can be confident that your website will load quickly for all those searching locally.

From SarahJameson, Marketing Director of Green Building Elements.

Transparent Pricing & Scalability

Finally, once you’ve decided on a hosting company for your website, make sure that the one you choose allows for scalability and plan modification. Suppose you underestimate the popularity of your website early on, for example. In that case, a competent hosting company will allow you to scale the cost to better meet your demands without experiencing downtime. A poor or free hosting solution, on the other hand, may ignore your requests for scalability and provide you with a non-negotiable plan that will negatively impact your site’s overall market performance. Before making a final decision about your website, make sure to look into your hosting provider’s price methods, monetization opportunities, and scalability plans.

From GerridSmith, Chief Marketing Officer of Joy Organics.

Server Performance & Maintenance

When determining where to host your online services, it’s critical to consider whether your hosting company uses high-quality infrastructure and maintains your services regularly to ensure that they remain secure and up-to-date, dealing with a hosting provider at the same time. As a result, it makes life easier for them regarding system maintenance. Hosting providers should always perform it during off-peak hours to avoid negatively impacting your business. This may not always be the case when dealing with a foreign hosting provider!

From MikeZiarko, Founder & CEO of No More Chores.

Server Environment That Is Safe And Stable

Selecting a reliable web host company is critical if you want a secure server to host your website. Only a secure web host can provide a strong network to combat online threats, hacking, and other cyber-attacks. A trustworthy web host company will safeguard your site’s data and your client’s personal information.

From Hassan Usmani, Tech Expert of Yeelight.com.

Hosting your website locally is great in theory because it’s always good not to be ultimately dependent on third parties, especially where your business is involved. In other words, if you can do it yourself, do it. But there are so many caveats you need to be able to address that every single upside can quickly turn to a nasty downside if you don’t do it right.

Obviously, the greatest benefit is that you are the one who pulls all the strings. In other words, you’ll be in control 100% of the time and won’t have to wait long lines for customer support in case anything goes awry. But that’s only a pro as long as you’re able to pay a big buck for a powerful machine that runs 24/7/365 as well as its maintenance, the stellar internet connection that never fails, huge electricity consumption, and a seasoned security expert to make sure your host computer remains safe from various attacks.

Pros and Cons Of Using Webflow Website Builder

Are you looking to start a website for your business? If you’re considering WebflowWebsite Builder, we have collected opinions from experts on the advantages and disadvantages of using the mentioned platform in building your website.

Webflow is a great option for building engaging and dynamic websites for a fraction of the cost of a custom-coded build. The intuitive visual builder creates unique sites that engage users while not compromising on-page experience, speed, and responsiveness. The learning curve for a client or marketing team is quick, with the CMS structure being easy to use so companies can manage and edit their websites without the need for development support.

From Sam Blackie, Marketing Manager of Fortnight Studio.

Apart from Webflow being free, it makes it a good starter for those who like to explore website building but have a low budget and cannot risk spending a huge amount of money without assurance that it can satisfy their needs. It also has specifically designed tools and a wide range of plans for customers to choose from. Apart from that, what makes Webflow a catch is the overall web builder, its dozens of templates, and the e-commerce and marketing tools available for navigation.

From Aviad Faruz, CEO of FARUZO.

Pros: The Webflow website builder’s pros include its user-friendly interface and extensive features. Another pro is creating a fully functioning website without spending any money on programming. The company also offers user guides and videos to help you learn how to use the website builder.

Cons: The first con of using the Webflow website builder is that full customization on some websites is not available. Another con of using this tool is that it does not work on iOS mobile devices. Finally, there are limitations regarding the number of pages you can create with this tool.

From Muskan Rai, Writer of Web Hosting Advices.

In my opinion, Webflow is a pretty great website builder with many benefits. It provides you with the ability to create, design, and publish your websites without coding. This means that you can have a fully functioning website up and running in just minutes with nothing but some basic knowledge of using this software.

Unfortunately, it’s not perfect, as Webflow has some drawbacks. For example, Webflow lacks support for multiple languages, and there is no way to customize the look without using custom CSS or HTML code. It also doesn’t work with mobile devices or tablets, so you can’t view or edit anything on mobile. Another issue is that Webflow doesn’t allow you to upload any files, including images and PDF designs.

Despite these drawbacks, Webflow is still a great choice for beginners who want to build websites independently without investing too much time and money.

From Stephen Curry, CEO of CocoSign.

Webflow is a great website builder and is a great alternative to WordPress. The best thing about Webflow is it is a drag-and-drop website builder. Through this, even a beginner can make a highly responsive website. In addition to this, anyone can design his website according to your requirements easily. It’s more than a website builder but a complete and excellent Content Management System(CMS).

Pros Of Using Webflow Website Builder

  • Secure Hosting
  • Offers Free Usage
  • Offers Highly Advanced Designing, which anyone can do
  • Tones Of Advanced Features
  • No Coding Required
  • Easiest To Use
  • Great Customer Support
  • Easier SEO

Cons Of Using Webflow Website Builder

  • No Code Customizations
  • Confusing Plans
  • Premium Plans Are Too Costly

From Jonathan Tian, Co-founder of Mobitrix.

Plan flexibility is one of the highlights of the Webflow website builder. This aspect is a double-edged sword. It can be an advantage because Webflow users will have various options to choose from, especially if there are specific features they like to use. However, users are often confused about which subscription will fit them due to multiple plan choices. Sometimes, they would choose the wrong plan, which is equivalent to a waste of money and resources.

5 Best Ways To Optimize Your WordPress Site

What makes your website stand out from millions of other websites is whether it is optimized or not.

Nowadays, most people browse the internet on their mobile phones.

Mobile traffic has surpassed desktop traffic by far. This means websites should be optimized for small screens so that users can have a seamless experience when browsing.

Faster website speed leads to more traffic and higher conversions.

Here are the five best ways to optimize WordPress site speed:

1. Review The Themes and Plugins

If you want to boost your website speed, you should focus more on changing or reviewing the plugins and themes used on your website.

When was the last time you even updated your site plugins? You are likely to notice red flags over your WordPress website when you hesitate to update the plugins.

You should make it a habit to keep updating your plugins when you can. When you do any updates on your site, you should not forget to backup important files.

If you have plugins and themes on your website that the developer takes years before releasing an update, you should scrap all of them on your website.

Replace all the old themes and plugins on your website with the recent versions to speed up your website’s speed and functionalities.

2. Change Your Hosting Provider

Another way you can improve your website speed is to simply change your current web hosting provider.

A host service provider influences to a great extent how your WordPress website performs.

A managed WordPress hosting company takes extra steps to ensure your website is fully optimized.

The company should provide advanced security features, regular updates on plugins, and automatic backups for your sensitive files.

If you believe you have a reliable web hosting provider for your site, but you still experience issues with speed, you should review or simply change your current plan.

Choose a fast web host that provides a faster load time and higher uptime. Besides, they should offer live chat facilities to fix any issues you might have.

3. Deliver Resources using a CDN

A Content Delivery Network consists of a group of servers that are placed in strategic positions all over the world. The concept of the CDN is based on the fact that the download time of a resource will always depend on the physical distance between the client and the server.

According to the analysis by HTTP archive, a typical WordPress web page weighs about 2.3MB. A breakdown of the page shows that images take 1.3MB, scripts 470KB, and fronts and style sheets 280KB.

If you are going to store all these resources on CDN worldwide, a visitor from any part of the world can easily load them from the server closest to them. This brings down the load time of the WordPress web page.

Therefore, selecting the most reliable CDN for site owners is important. Choose the closest server to your target visitors and improve your website speed.

4. Optimize Site Images and Videos

You want to focus more on optimizing the website images to speed up your site. It is common knowledge that for the site images to load fast, they must fit the available storage space’s dimensions, size, and quality.

Therefore, before you can upload any images on your website, you want to ensure they meet the set specifications for images. Make your images smaller and fit your website if you don’t want to upload images that slow down your website.

You can use these free plugins for WordPress image optimization.

Moreover, nowadays websites host a lot of videos to attract customer attention.

Professional quality videos edited using an online video editor helps to increase the time spent by the visitor on the site.

You should optimize the videos using different plugins to increase the page load time.

5. Use Page Caching

Having active page caching on your website is the best if you don’t have reliable web hosting. By activating website caching on your website, you can witness a significant cut in website load times by half.

Whenever users visit a website, WordPress has to assemble each page from scratch. The process involves executing PHP and querying the website database to get the content for the page. The website delivers a finished HTML to a visitor’s browser once it does this.

The process consumes a lot of time, and this may have some negative effects on site performance. It uses more resources for each visit and makes individual visits take longer. When you activate page caching on your site, you can eliminate this problem by simply storing the finished HTML product of the pages on a cache.

Final Thoughts

If you notice your website is taking longer to download and send your visitors’ parking, you can perform any of these tips to correct it. Perform a website audit to find out what could be causing your WordPress website to slow down. You can implement the five tips discussed on this website to optimize your website for speed and boost customer experience.
