How To Pause Shopify Store?

Are you a business owner selling products on Shopify? There may come a time when you need to hit a pause on your store. Whether it’s for taking a quick break or updating your website design, pausing allows you to work on things without dealing with new customer orders.

If you want to pause your Shopify store, you have two options:

  1. Pause your Shopify store to work on it.
  2. Pause your Shopify store to take a quick break.

The Shopify Pause and Build Plan

In the Pause and Build Plan, you can work on your store behind the scenes for a reduced price of $9 per month. With this plan, you can access your Shopify dashboard and edit your store as you wish without any customers trying to make purchases.

How to select the Pause and Build Plan:

  1. Log in to your Shopify account as a store owner.
  2. Click Settings and select Plan.
  3. Click Pause or Cancel Subscription, and then select Pause and Build Plan.
  4. Make sure you review the details of the plan.
  5. Finally, click Switch to Pause and Build.

The Shopify Pause Plan

Another option you can try is the Pause Plan. Here, you can give your Shopify store a rest for three months without being charged. You can also take time to go on vacation or focus on other activities.

With the Pause Plan, you can’t access your Shopify admin dashboard, work on your store, or sell to customers. Site visitors will also see a notification that your store is temporarily closed.

How to select the Pause and Build Plan:

  1. Log in to your Shopify account as a store owner.
  2. Click Settings and select Plan.
  3. Click Pause or Cancel Subscription, and then select Pause for 90 Days Plan.
  4. Make sure you review the details of the plan.
  5. Finally, click Pause Store.

Shopify allows sellers who need to take a break from their store and refocus on other business activities. If, after your break, you want to close your store, here’s what you can do to cancel your Shopify plan.
