How to Start Building a Website With HTML

If your business doesn’t have a website, then you practically don’t exist. Everything is ruled by the Internet nowadays, so you should start working on building a website if you don’t have one yet.

The first place you can start with is HyperText Markup Language, easily known as HTML. It has been developed since the 1990s, and it was first used for displaying documents in a browser. Today, HTML is an integral part of building pieces for the web and being knowledgeable in HTML can help you get the start you need for getting a great one.

Here are some of the first things you need to prepare first if you want to build a website with code.

The Prerequisites of Building with HTML

  • Find a code editor to test out your HTML codes, like Visual Studio Code
  • A web browser, like Chrome or Firefox
  • Photos and trial content you can use for testing out your site

Understand Basic HTML Terms

Before you start with coding, you need to familiarize yourself with HTML terms like the following:

  • Elements - Elements define the structure of the content on the page. For instance, there are heading and paragraphs and elements to change up the text like div and strong elements.
  • Tags - When an element is put together, you get a pair called tags. Opening tags mark their beginning and closing tags mark when it ends.
  • Attributes - Attributes are properties you can use to input additional information to modify an element.

How to Start Up Building A Website with HTML

HTML documents work like your usual plain text doc, only with an .html file extension. Then, you start forming the document structure, assigning a head and a body. After that, you could go and run wild with trying out different HTML elements to format your text.

Of course, there are many things you have yet to know about HTML, and it’s not something that you can learn in a day. If you are willing to put up the time, that would be fine, but you can opt to use website builders instead.
