Novel, Trendy Layout with a Water/Swimming Theme

Splash features an eye-catching, original layout coupled with a hint of a water theme thanks to the great photo. Perfect for any site connected with water, swimming or the sea. You could of course use a different photo, thereby changing the theme to suit your site.

Splash's fixed-width layout aligns the main 750-pixel-wide page body centrally in the browser window. This ensures that the design looks consistent across all screen sizes.

Easy to Edit

All the headings and menu options are created using plain HTML, so there are no graphics to edit if you want to change the headings or menu. Just open the page up in your favourite Web page editor (FrontPage, Dreamweaver, etc), select the old text and replace it with your own.

It's simple to slot in your own logo or other heading image into the page header, replacing the generic "splash" logo image. (Use a transparent GIF or PNG image for best results.)

The template's HTML code was built by hand to ensure maximum compatibility across Web browsers and editors, and is well laid-out and fully commented for ease of maintenance.

Fully Web Standards Compliant

Splash uses CSS positioning for layout and conforms to the XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS level 2 W3C standards. This ensures a high level of compatibility with today's and tomorrow's browsers.

Adaptable, Flexible Layout

The main page of the template features three text areas, giving you lots of flexibility for portal-style content such as news headlines, site updates or recent forum posts, for example.

The generic sub-page features a main body text area, suitable for any type of content, with a small orange side box area that's useful for additional info or pull quotes.

All content areas apart from the top text box on the main page are stretchable vertically, ensuring that the Splash template can accommodate as much content as you like.

Suggested Applications

The water photo makes Splash ideal for a water-sports or seaside related site. However you can of course replace the water photo with your own, adapting the template to your particular theme.

Fast Load Time

The estimated load time of the main page on a 56K modem is 8 seconds. The page is built using CSS positioning rather than a tables-based layout, which results in a much faster and smoother load of the page, and better compatibility with modern browsers. It also improves accessibility, enhancing the browsing experience for text-only browsers, screen readers, etc.

Fonts Used

Splash uses Verdana for all text in the page. This font usually comes as standard on most PC and Mac systems.
