The Pole template is based around a wonderful photo and has a very clean, relaxed design. It also features a lovely rollover menu effect that is very easy to edit. Perfect for any site wanting a clean, modern look with some professional touches.

Pole's fixed-width layout aligns the main 749-pixel-wide page body centrally in the browser window. This ensures that the design looks consistent across all screen sizes.

Easy to Edit

All the headings and menu options are created using plain HTML, so there are no graphics to edit if you want to change the headings or menu. Just open the page up in your favourite Web page editor (FrontPage, Dreamweaver, etc), select the old text and replace it with your own.

The template's HTML code was built by hand to ensure maximum compatibility across Web browsers and editors, and is well laid-out and fully commented for ease of maintenance.

Fully Web Standards Compliant

Pole uses CSS positioning for layout and conforms to the XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS level 2 W3C standards. This ensures a high level of compatibility with today's and tomorrow's browsers. The rollover effect on the menu is achieved solely through the CSS style sheet, so there's no JavaScript to edit when changing the menu options.

Adaptable, Flexible Layout

The main page of the template features a large headline area on the left and another area on the right that can be used for news items or introducing the site. The menu options each have room for a small piece of descriptive text.

The generic sub-page features a 2-column layout, with a page title area, sidebar area and flexible main content area. This layout can of course be changed easily if desired.

All content areas are stretchable vertically, ensuring that the Pole template can accommodate as much content as you can throw at it.

The estimated load time of the main page on a 56K modem is 6 seconds. The page is built using CSS positioning rather than a tables-based layout, which results in a much faster and smoother load of the page, and better compatibility with modern browsers. It also improves accessibility, enhancing the browsing experience for text-only browsers, screen readers, etc.

Fonts Used

Pole uses Verdana for all text in the page. This font usually comes as standard on most PC and Mac systems.
