Original, Relaxing Design with Plenty of Space

Waterworld features some wonderful nature photography and a gentle, spacious design. The end result is a beautiful and relaxing template, ideal for webmasters that want to create a laid-back yet polished feel to their site.

This template's fixed-width layout aligns the main 753-pixel-wide page body to the left in the browser window. This ensures that the design looks consistent across all screen sizes. In addition, a repeating background effect is used to fill any left-over window space, no matter how wide the browser window.

Easy to Edit

Apart from the main page "welcome" graphic, all the headings and menu options are created using plain HTML, so there are no graphics to edit if you want to change the headings or menu. Just open the page up in your favourite Web page editor (FrontPage, Dreamweaver, etc), select the old text and replace it with your own.

The template's HTML code was built by hand to ensure maximum compatibility across Web browsers and editors, and is well laid-out and fully commented for ease of maintenance.

Fully Web Standards Compliant

Waterworld uses CSS positioning for layout and conforms to the XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS level 2 W3C standards. This ensures a high level of compatibility with today's and tomorrow's browsers.

Striking, Roomy Layout

Waterworld's main "splash" page features a navigation menu, a minimal "intro" content area and fantastic imagery to create an impressive impact for first-time visitors.

The generic sub-page contains the same navigation menu, a page title area, and a free-form content area that is stretchable vertically, ensuring that it can accommodate as much content as you can throw at it.

Fast Load Time

The estimated load time of the main page on a 56K modem is 5 seconds. The page is built using CSS positioning rather than a tables-based layout, which results in a much faster and smoother load of the page, and better compatibility with modern browsers. It also improves accessibility, enhancing the browsing experience for text-only browsers, screen readers, etc.

Fonts Used

Waterworld uses Verdana for the page text, which usually comes as standard on Mac and PC, and Helvetica Neue UltraLight for the heading text, which usually comes as standard on the Mac (PC users can substitute Arial if Helvetica Neue UltraLight is not available).
