Clean, Professional Design

Computaman sports a subtle "computing" theme with a simple, flexible page layout, making it suitable for a wide variety of sites related to the Internet, computers, IT or software development.

The template is based on a colour scheme of gentle blues and oranges. Light blue text is used on a dark blue background, with orange being used for the link colours.

This template's fixed-width layout centres the 750-pixel-wide page body in the browser window. This ensures that the design looks consistent across all screen sizes.

Easy to Edit

The menu options ("about, gallery, news" etc) and sub-headings are created using plain HTML. This makes it really easy to customise the template to match your requirements. Just open the page up in your favourite Web page editor (FrontPage, Dreamweaver, etc), select the old text and replace it with your own.

The generic "welcome" image on the main page is easy to edit in an image editor, so you can replace it with your own logo or other heading if required.

The template's HTML code was built by hand to ensure maximum compatibility across Web browsers and editors, and is well laid-out and fully commented for ease of maintenance.

The main page of the Computaman template features several text content areas, divided into a number of rows and columns. These areas could be used for news items, or for highlighting parts of your site, for example. You can of course edit the layout of these text areas in your Web page editor as required.

The sub page contains a more free-form, flexible main content area, and a "sidebar" area for highlights, adverts, etc.

All the content boxes are stretchable vertically, ensuring that they will accommodate as much or as little content as you need.

The estimated load time of the main page on a 56K modem is 6 seconds. This fast loading time was achieved through the minimal use of graphics in the page design and through carefully optimised images. The result is a quick, responsive site that will please your site's visitors.

Fonts Used

Computaman uses Verdana for the page text. This font is usually available as standard on PC and Mac systems. Venus Rising, available free from www.larabiefonts.com, was used for the "welcome" heading image.
