Eye-Grabbing, Original Design

The template's fixed-width layout centres the 770-pixel-wide page body in the browser window. This ensures that the design looks consistent across all screen sizes.

Easy to Edit

All the text on the page (apart from the "Hello Everybody"s in the homepage image) is simply HTML text, so you don't need a graphics editor to change the headings or menu for example. Just open the page up in your favourite Web page editor (FrontPage, Dreamweaver, etc.), select the old text and replace it with your own.

It's easy to slot in your own logo or other heading image/text into the page header, replacing the generic "My Site" text.

The template's HTML code was built by hand to ensure maximum compatibility across Web browsers and editors, and is well laid-out and fully commented for ease of maintenance.

Fully Web Standards Compliant

Apocalypse uses CSS positioning for layout and conforms to the XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS level 2 W3C standards. This ensures a high level of compatibility with today's and tomorrow's browsers.

Easy, Flexible Layout

The PageKit's homepage features the main graphics, the "My Site" title and the navigation menu. All you need to edit on this page are the "My Site" text and the menu items. You can edit these using any web page editor or text editor.

Apocalypse's inner page uses a simple, two-column layout, with the main content on the left and a sidebar on the right. The left column's great for your main site content - text, images, Flash movies and so on - while the sidebar column is handy for your site highlights, boxouts, photo thumbnails or in-page navigation.

Both the main content column and sidebar column are stretchable vertically, ensuring that they will accommodate as much content as you need.

Fast Load Time

The estimated load time on a 56K modem is 14 seconds for the home page and 5 seconds for the inner page. The PageKit is built using CSS positioning rather than a tables-based layout, which results in a much faster and smoother load of the page, and better compatibility with modern browsers. It also improves accessibility, enhancing the browsing experience for text-only browsers and screen readers.
