General Questions

What is a PageKit?

A PageKit is a web site template package that you can use to build your site.

Each PageKit contains a main page HTML file (example) that you can use for your home page, and a sub page HTML file (example) that you can copy as many times as you like to make the other pages of your site. Then you simply insert your own text, images or other content to make your site, using a web page editor or text editor.

Also in the PageKit are the image files that make up the PageKit's design, and a CSS style sheet file for controlling text appearance and layout.

The PageKit also includes the source PSD files that were used to create the template's images. If you have a graphics editor that can open PSD files, such as Adobe Photoshop, Corel Paint Shop Pro, or The GIMP, you can easily customize the images in the template. We have many handy tutorials available to help you with the PSDs. However you don't need a graphics editor to use a PageKit, unless you want to alter the PageKit's images.

Purchasing Questions

How do I buy a PageKit?

Simply click on the Add To Cart button next to the PageKit you'd like to purchase - your shopping cart will appear in a new window. Then follow through the instructions on-screen to complete your order. We can accept payment using Visa, MasterCard and Visa Delta. All card details are encrypted using WorldPay's secure server.

Once your card payment has been completed, we'll usually email your chosen PageKit(s) within a few minutes. We email each PageKit as a .ZIP file. This .ZIP file contains the HTML pages and images that make up the template, along with the source Photoshop (.PSD) files that were used to create the template's graphics.

Please be aware that we sometimes need to make manual anti-fraud checks before delivery, which can delay delivery by a few hours. In rare cases these checks can take up to 2 business days to complete.

What do I get when I buy a PageKit?

When you have completed your online purchase, you will receive a .ZIP file containing the HTML files, images and source PSD files that make up the PageKit. To open this .ZIP file, you need to use an unzipping program such as WinZip for Windows users, or Stuffit for Mac users.

What is a "Limited Edition" PageKit?

A Limited Edition PageKit is only sold 30 times before it is removed from the PageKits.com site, never to be sold again. This means that you're getting a much more exclusive design for your site!

I'm having trouble ordering a PageKit - can you help?

Of course. If you have any trouble, please contact us and we will do our best to assist you in any way we can. If for some reason you didn't receive your PageKit via email when you placed your order, let us know and we will re-send you the PageKit.

Who am I buying these web site templates from?

You're buying these templates from ELATED.com, a UK company that's been building websites and offering webmaster resources to the public since 1997. We process credit and debit card payments through WorldPay's secure server to ensure your privacy and security.

When I buy a PageKit, what is shown on my card statement?

Your card statement will show a purchase made from WP-ELATED COMMUNICATIONS.

I'm having trouble adding a PageKit to my cart - what's the problem?

The cart uses browser features such as cookies and HTTP redirects to function. If you have turned off cookies, or have installed extra software to block cookies or redirects, you may have problems accessing the cart.

If you are using software such as PopUpCop, we recommend turning it off while you're purchasing a PageKit, then turning it back on again afterwards.

Also, make sure you have enabled both permanent and session cookies in your browser for the cart to function properly.

If you have any further problems or questions, please let us know and we'll do our best to help!

Licensing Questions

Can I use a PageKit to design a site for a client?

Yes. If you purchase a PageKit from PageKits.com, you can use the PageKit to design a site for one of your clients. Please see our Usage Agreement for the full terms and conditions of PageKit usage.

Can I buy your PageKits to put up on my site for people to use?

You cannot redistribute these web site templates on your site for other people's use. PageKits for sale on PageKits.com are not sold anywhere else. However, if you are interested in offering some templates on your site for your customers (for example, you are a web hosting company and would like to provide your clients with some templates), please contact us and we can arrange to build some custom web site templates for you.

Once I've bought a PageKit, will I own the copyright to it?

No. You are purchasing a licence to use the PageKit under the terms of the Licence Agreement; you are not purchasing the intellectual ownership of, or copyright to, the PageKit itself.

Once I've bought a PageKit, can I remove the links to ELATED.com in the footer?

Yes. If you purchase a PageKit and build a site using that PageKit, you may remove the links to ELATED.com and the usage agreement from the page footer.

Can I use a PageKit on more than one web site?

When you buy a PageKit, you are licenced to use it on one web site only. However, if you would like to use it on two web sites, simply purchase an additional copy of the same PageKit, which will give you an additional site licence.

Technical Questions

Which web page editors work with the PageKits?

The PageKits are simply HTML pages, so they can be edited in any web page editor or text editor, including:

For best results, we recommend using the latest version of your web page editing software, particularly with our newer CSS2/XHTML PageKits.

How many pages can my site have if it's built with a PageKit?

There is no limit to the number of pages you can make. To create additional pages, simply copy the subpage file from the PageKit (usually called page.html) as many times as you need, and edit as appropriate.

Which version of Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro or The GIMP do I need?

The latest versions of these graphics packages will allow you the most flexibility when editing the PSDs, although you should be able to edit them on earlier versions too. We'd recommend at least Photoshop CS, Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, or The GIMP 2.0.

Do the PageKits come with instructions?

Yes. Each PageKit contains a help page in the help folder (you'll see this folder when you unzip the PageKit zip file). Open the index.html page inside this folder, using your browser, for specific instructions on that PageKit.

In addition, there are some great tutorials on ELATED.com to help you build sites with the PageKits.
